GreenRate™ Level ‘A’ certified
The majority of Karndean luxury vinyl ranges are fully certified to Ecospecifier Global GreenTag™ - the third-party multi-criteria, consensus-based, and externally verified Type 1 eco-labelling program. This is one of the largest product sustainability certification systems in Australasia and the only certification mark approved by the New Zealand Commerce Commission (NZCC).
GreenTag™ LCARate Silver certification
LCARate is the life cycle analysis for all products and rating tools that engage analysis with separate outputs called an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). This summary life cycle analysis report is used for credits in some rating tools for GreenStar. Karndean LVT ranges achieve GreenTag™ LCARate Silver certification, which offers eco-credit points towards GreenStar building projects.
GreenRate™ Level A certification
GreenRate is a straight Type 1 eco-label developed to meet the requirements of specific green building rating tools. It includes the measurement of indoor environmental air quality: volatile organic compounds compliant (IEQ VOC) and reduced exposure to pollutants. Karndean LVT ranges are fully certified under Level A certification, which declares responsible manufacture and clean indoor quality.
Product Stewardship Program
Karndean has achieved 100% compliance with the Vinyl Council Australia’s VCA Product Stewardship Program. This full compliance strengthens our ongoing commitment to improving the health, safety, and environmental impacts of our LVT flooring. Covering phthalate-free PVC products, reduced emissions, waste management improvements, and life-cycle thinking in the development of new PVC products.
Best practice PVC
The Best Practice PVC Guidelines, written and determined by the Green Building Council (NZGBC), provide independent verification and accreditation of PVC product compliance. These guidelines address minimising the environmental and health impacts of the PVC lifecycle, including mercury avoidance, emission reduction, and end-of-life management. This recognises all our ranges.

As leading suppliers of LVT, we ensure our flooring and adhesives products meet the strict indoor air quality emissions criteria of FloorScore®. FloorScore® certified products are recognised by numerous healthy building programs, and the SCS-EC10.3-2014 Indoor Air Quality Product Performance Standard for Building Interiors.
Environmentally responsible manufacturing
Our flooring is manufactured in factories certified to ISO14001 Environmental Management & ISO9001 Quality Management international standards. Our approach includes using recycled materials and ensuring that the finished product is suitable for recycling. Our products contribute to improved indoor air quality, carrying a low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) FloorScore® certification.
